More Triathlon Stuff!

Coming up for air!
Another triathlon under Vicky's belt - off to a superb start in the pool with her breast stroke beating lots of other people's crawls she headed out onto the bike for 29K followed by a very hilly 5K run to come in first in her age category at The Denbighshire Sprint Tri. The photo shows Vicky in the middle flanked by two other ladies also called Victoria! She's been doing some open water swimming as well, training in the River Dee at Chester for the forthcoming Deva Diva's Ladies Tri - that should be something to watch from the river bank with a couple of hundred feisty women jostling for position in the murky water - wait till you see the photos! Despite the fact that the water mostly comes from Wales it's not that clean and apparently each swimmer is given a tin of coke on emerging from the river - it's an internal disinfectant!

Winners!
Here she is on the podium with her goody bag and a nice medal. That chap next to her is the over 60 male winner - and you may be thinking, perhaps with a bit of swimming tuition, that that could be me next year? Don't bank on it - if we were meant to swim God would have given us gills!
So a week later we were off to Pwllheli for a nice weekend by the sea, we found a lovely AirBnb place on the beach and relaxed in the glorious weather - some more nice open water swimming practice for Vicky each day. And what was posted through the letter box the following morning - details of road closures for the Abersoch Triathlon! Too late to enter as it was the following morning but we thought we'd take a look and watched The Roc entrants passing through town on their bikes. The Abersoch Tri consists of a Sprit Tri, an Olympic Distance Tri and The Roc. Think about this one - 1.2K in the water followed by 49.5K to the foot of  Snowdon, up and down the Watkin path to the summit and 49.5K bike ride back. Just for the glory run in you have to gallop another kilometre along the beach!

A long way in 30 degrees!

I'll have some of that!

And as a reward for watching those thirsty triathletes we found the wonderful Cwrw Llyn Brewhouse tap at Nefyn! Must be the time of the week but a lot of the tourists seemed to be drinking lager, however it was the Cwrw Llyn pilsner brewed on site. We had the Glyndwr Aur and the Porth Neigwl IPA - delish!
