June Parkrun Update

Gosh this is hard work!
A nice quick one only 5 miles from the centre of Liverpool. This was at Croxteth Hall and it was fair busy with  450 runners going hard at it. We both achieved good times with Vicky getting a respectable 31:39 and me coming in with 22:05. Must do this one again when I'm fitter but mustn't forget to pay the Runcorn Bridge toll! We found each other somehow at the finish and found there was a choice of cafes - splendid!

Next up was Brighouse near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, on my way to see Mum on her birthday. It might look as if I'm going well here but it was a hot humid day and Skip soon slowed down. It was a pleasant but small park in the centre of Brighouse so we had to run four times round this flat course. 23:24 was the best we could do. However I was trundling along on my final lap to find myself overtaking a familiar figure - well it was a family figure - Vicky's sister Cas, who was running with her husband Julian who have taken up parkrun touristing. Well we'll most likely bump into you somewhere else before too long. Vicky missed out on this one as she was returning from an overseas assignment.

On the pull!

Go for it!
And finally, after many months absence, we returned to Ellesmere Port parkrun. Here's a shot of Vicky encouraging a very polite youngster. What usually happens is that Vicky catches them up, gets them going again and they sprint out of sight when they see the finish - not so this time, the young gentleman insisted that Vicky went ahead as they approached the line. 33:36 was a new pb for Vicky, I was a reasonable 22:28.

Just to finish off here's a snap of two strong girls about to start the uphill leg of the Jubilee Tower Up and Down Relay. A warm evening at the pub but cooled down a bit near the summit - superb performances from both of them!

Just about to walk into the barrage of cameras and paparazzi!
